Europe reveals its ambitious tech blueprint to take on Silicon Valley and China

EU Competition Commissioner Vestager talks to the media at the European Council headquarters in BrusselsEurope revealed ambitious plans to challenge US and Chinese dominance in tech and artificial intelligence.

The proposals were set out Wednesday by Margrethe Vestager, Thierry Breton, and Ursula von der Leyen, all senior members of the European Commission. "We believe citizens should be empowered to make better decisions based on insights gleaned from non-personal data," she wrote. The goal is to create the data single market by 2030, covering everything from health data to financial and energy data., the commission outlined its concerns over the "accumulation of vast amounts of data" by big tech — likely referring to US giants Facebook, Amazon, and Google. The commission hinted at further regulation to curb these giants' power.

bureaucratic central planning ... what could go wrong?

'ambitious blueprint' ... 'more regulation for big US firms.' Wow ambitious!

Time for fightbackmove fightback

Gonna have to work more than four days a week. Sorry guys.

Europe? What kind of country is Europe? Never heard of it. Oh, the EU? Despite ChiCom style propaganda tossed about by the EU the EU is not Europe. Also, a central politbüro planning everything isn't going to defeat Silicon Valley.

When I think of innovation, what's better than a central planning bureaucracy

Don't worry Europe, the government will fix it.

Silicon valley will even turn off its Norton security if that will help.

Work for a French tech company just once, and you'll know how laughable this is.

good luck
