For years hospitals and large physician practices had a steady, predictable stream of sales and profits. The coronavirus disaster has scrambled that dynamic.

Hospitals across the country have suspended elective procedures to help cope with a surge in Covid-19 patients. Elective procedures can include anything from nonessential cosmetic fixes, such as a rhinoplasty to more serious surgeries like hip replacement.

heard So glad to work at a nonprofit hospital. We can worry about caring for our community instead of distant shareholders.

heard Yeah I was not to happy when I got a call they had to cancel and reschedule my vein ablation. My legs hurt and are swelling. I have been needing it. They feel it’s non essential. I say FU give me the damn surgery.
