While the ratio is an improvement on the 1.4% of 2014, there is much ground still to cover, said Sandra Kerr, race director at Business in the Community, which has campaigned for workplace racial equality for 25 years."Black livelihoods matter and employers need to take urgent action to ensure that their organisation is inclusive and a place where people of any ethnic background can thrive and succeed.

Genuine question Does your description of black include Asian as well because in my area there is an huge percentage of Asian people in business.

Get to fuck BBC, I seriously need to cancel my TV licence, this is pure propaganda!!

Fuking relentless BBC!

Here we go yet again!

Just fcuk off will ya.

I just don't understand... why do you even care if they black why are you even saying that like for gods sake

What am I get wrong here? 712803.042 most employable people which is 35% of 2036580.12 black people (18yrs -39yrs) and 1.5% of top bosses are black in the UK. Is that a bad amount?

'What's more racist, voting for a black president, or voting for a president because he's black' - The New Normal (US TV show).

You cannot promte people because of their colour, you promote on ability.

Well improve your skills stop hiding behind your skin colour

Well they've got work to do. Don't expect anyone else to do it for them. Or do you?

Actually, I asked this question the other day. There are approx 2mil black people in the country. Some retired, children etc. So that would be less than 3% practically speaking?

what percentage of the black population is under the age of 35 say? how many under 35's are managers?

And so are female managers....? What's their point?

What is the percentages of black managers in the overpaid business that is the BBC ? Or am I calling the kettle black?

How do you propose to do that when hiring based upon race is rightly illegal?

DefundBBC

Could it just be down to simple maths. The majority and a minority more of some and less of the other?

So how many senior BBC managers are black

No mention of the black on black crime still going on shooting each other dead in moss side over the weekend they had a choice. live by the sword die by the sword that’s what I was taught and best man gets the job. Unless you’re after the rivers of blood? Creating divisions

Surely you get the job on merit, maybe there aren’t any because none were good enough...stop it with the skin colour and making everything race related

why don't you ask your best friend, the Labour party, why they never had a female leader or a black leader?

Again, it's not down to the colour of skin. Its down to performance.

The most successful businesses appoint on merit not colour.

Privately educated people of all races are over represented in management positions. If Blacks are favoured, it will disproportionately discriminate against the white working class, with fewer opportunities available for them. The well educated middle classes will be unaffected.

How do the stats compare with Asian people, Chinese and other ethnic minorities. We're just hearing about Black people at the moment. I'd like to see the total picture.

Hard work and determination that's it..BAME people I went to school with had same opportunities, classes, doors to go through I had as a white person upto the individual to follow through, another baiting divisive post aiming to stir, hows the BAME only applications going?

That is a racist statement. Colour means nothing.

If you are good enough, you will get to where you want to be, regardless of colour, race, creed, gender etc.

So?

White business manager are targets

Yes, nobody listens to them.

Nepotism?

People of talent. That's the criteria that should be used.

Pathetic race baiting

Heard of demographics ? Oh well nice try DefundTheBBC

Asians are over represented; vastly over respresented! Should we be pulling Asian people from positions just so we can hit a 3% quota!

But media ,politics and sport over represented. Some nights watching bbc you woukd think you lived in Africa /Asia

This assumes that % population is the correct baseline to measure against. Likely to be a false comparison and a far too simplistic one at that IMO.

If you look at workplaces generally though, I suspect you will see a wide range of people in society underrepresented. We need to get back a wider section of society being employed in all areas of the workplace. Varying experience & qualifications in touch with wider society.

Is your DG black yet? Or a woman? Or even white working class?

You can’t set racial quotas, businesses work on merit.

People go on about the need for action, they dont know why, just because they're told to. Its in the the news. People need to wake up to the 'news'

So you think they should be given the positions because they are Black and for their ability to do the job .

Cos they are bad at managing businesses or any commercial enterprises

Hey ! This is capitalism ! Do they want it on a plate

If you're going to continue with this, BBC, then be honest (if you can) and tell us how many black applicants have been turned down because of their colour.

Pathetic reporting

Well do you think black people should get management jobs just because their black or because of ability.

Top jobs should be awarded to ability not colour.

Then in my 30+ years as a manager I must have worked for some wonderful diverse companies I worry these so called studies are designed to look one way

So...obviously not qualified for the position, get over it

I think I just read that the black population of the uk is at 3% so therefore the level should be around 3% of managers, leaders etc unless you report what the level actually is the reports are useless

U know wat if there good enuff they will get there as with anyone..BBC and it's boloks every bloody day with the race crap

And have you (the bbc) done extensive research and covered every base to make sure that it is definitely down to skin colour preventing more black people from being business managers. Have youdefinately made sure that it isnt down to job choice, interest, qualifications, ...

Cancel your BBC licence fee

They should get off their arse and work for it. The Indians and Chinese do. What is about Africans.

So are scouse ones. And one legged trannies. And 6 year olds. So what.

Why do you constantly have to s**t stir ? Has it not occurred to you that maybe, just maybe, it’s because the black person might not be the best person for the job !!

Now that the UK are out of the EU, the end of the policy of unlimited predominately white immigration from Europe might allow more opportunities for black business managers in the UK

The BBC sucks. Uh huh huh huh.

Stop this BS! No one cares about black BS! Especially in this country there is discrimination but for white people!

What happened to simply the best person getting the job? Is there a quota of black people to meet or something, before there's finally 'enough' in senior roles? Last time I checked jobs were given on merit, not colour. But then, this is the pile of BS called 2020 🙄

Shit stirring again!

These guys need a black manager desperately BlackLivesMatter

At least this legend remains in the mainstream.

Racism affects black people regardless of their character, agre, professionalism, socio-economic and social status, location or ability. This is a problem for racist people to own and sort out.

The business world is not like the MSM or TV adverts...you have to work to get to the top,and not have a free passage because of your skin colour..has the BBC ever had a black Director-General? ..until they do shut the feck with all this race baiting ...

Lol. Let me try and understand this, one minute you are saying that black people get the worse or no access to education and now you are asking why they are underrepresented in business management positions. Can you not see the link to your own stories? scummedia mediascum

Yet black stabbers and their fellow black stab victims still overrepresented, statistics suggest. All victims of racism no doubt? Black is the new LGBTxyz. LGBTxyz was the new black. DefundTheBBC DefundIdentityPolitics

If anyone black is qualify and has the abilities, what's stopping them applying. No one to blame.

Do you think maybe it might have something to do with certain people (the media & academia) giving them the impression that they won't be able to succeed because the whole country is systemically racist and will hold them down?

I think the white sportsman also very underrepresented in the 100 meters final race.

Well feck, we better stuff Black people in positions they have no business being in so we can say were feckin woke!

Disparity does not = discrimination.

It should be judged on ability not colour, race or creed.

so are women business managers ......

Is equality about numbers? Or about everyone being treated the same, being judged on our character not the colour of skin if so then we shouldn’t need to use the term underrepresented I would be happy with a black, white, female, gay, trans manager as long as they are good at the job

Maybe because they're thick as two planks?

Only 3.4% of the UK population is black so it's not as far out as the BBC & left try to make out.
