KOTA KINABALU: Petronas is the only oil and gas company out of the nine operating in Sabah that has yet to pay their 5% sales tax to the state.

Caretaker chief minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the other eight companies have started making the payment several months ago.

“Sabah implemented a 5% sales tax on petroleum products in April, and eight except for Petronas have started paying, ” he said. The companies operating in Sabah are Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd, Repsol Oil and Gas Malaysia Limited, PTTEP Sabah Oil Limited, ConocoPhillips Asia Limited, Sabah Shell Petroleum Company, PT Pertamina Malaysia Eksplorasi Producksi, Shell Energy Asia Limited, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and Petronas Floating LND.Article type: metered
