Facebook's head of global recruiting reveals the tech giant's remote hiring strategy that is helping them add 10,000 new product engineers to their team this year

Kalinowski has been working in recruiting for nearly three decades, and helped Facebook grow from a workforce of approximately 6,000 to upwards of 50,000 during her time with the company. This year, Kalinowski said that Facebook will hire more than 10,000 product engineers. But the global pandemic has caused the company to make drastic changes to the way they hire.

Business Insider spoke with Kalinowski on the ways Facebook has been able to recruit talent during the pandemic, and what other businesses can do to emulate their hiring practices. It can be hard to convey your company's culture to a job candidate when the entire process takes place through a screen.

To mimic the experience of an in-person interview, the company released a set of videos that allow candidates to tour the office remotely. They also introduced interview breaks to make the process feel more natural. But at Facebook, it's not just about creating a favorable work environment for employees – it's also about ensuring that job candidates have an equally smooth recruiting process.
