WA Premier Mark McGowan has accused some in the business community of being out of touch with public sentiment and wanting coronavirus to "come back" to the state by calling for the border to be lifted.
"I don't get that, I just don't think they're in touch with what's economically better or the mood of the community." When asked what part of the sector he was referring to specifically, Mr McGowan said the sentiment was evident "all over the country"."Particularly eastern states commentary," he said.
"I don't know if you read some of the national newspapers but somehow they seem to think that having COVID is better than not having COVID."Caution will lead WA response: Premier The McGowan Government has continued to reiterate health advice that WA's border would not come down until there had been 28 days of no community spread anywhere in the country.Read more about coronavirus:"I've just seen all this stuff about how New South Wales is the gold standard and somehow that would be better, how is it better to have cases and people dying than to not have cases, people healthy and a stronger economy," Mr McGowan said.
It is the WA Premier who has lost touch with reality. How can businesses survive until next year’s state election ? If the decisions were based on medical data or epidemiology OK but unfortunately for West Australians the hard border decision is based on LABOUR’s grab for POWER.
WA’s border closure clearly shows the Premier is more concerned about himself than the residents of WA. There is no medical reason to keep the borders closed to people from SA, Tasmania, NSW, Qld orNT unless you are trying to falsely portray yourself as the hero & win an election
