Many people were feared killed in a road accident that occurred at the Ibaka Area of Akungba Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State on Saturday evening.

It was gathered that the accident involved a trailer which rammed into a market, killing many people.

According to an eyewitness, the trailer loaded with bags of rice had a brake failure, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crashed into a market. The eyewitness said, “The accident occurred about 7.30 pm, when the trailer loaded with bags of rice rammed into the stalls in the market. As I am talking to you, about 20 people must have been killed because we have removed over 10 dead bodies under the trailer and many are still trapped under the trailer.”He said, “As we speak now, eight people have been confirmed dead in the accident and we can still have more because we still have many people trapped under the trailer.

The so call traditional rulers are not doing anything, just to relax and give useless titles, while can they consort their gods for all this accident. I think is time to protest against trailer in our roads, because the killing is too much this days.

I guess this is another system adopted by terrorist to perpetrating there evil

May God save us in this country

This ondo una juju too much. Haba accident Everytime in ondo

May their souls rest in peace.

Wow! Recent spate of truck accidents should be thoroughly investigated. Vehicles had been used as weapons by terrorists.

Maybe Inspector Fashion will have a solution to this one.😐

So painful and disheartening. Akungba hosts my almer mater 'Adekunle Ajasin University', it is not the first time this incident is happening, neither is it the second or third. Something needs be done to prevent a reoccurrence of this urgly event. RotimiAkeredolu ODSGNigeria

Why are they so adamant in relocating that market from the main road ? This is not the first time such is happening. RIP to the dead..

My God; last time just less than three days or so, it was school children in Enugu now in ondo. When is govt going to do something about these trailers? Maybe they should be banned from moving in the day time or restricted to some roads. We lose lives here like humans are ants.

May their souls rest in peace & may God grant their families d fortitude to bear d irreparable loss. I often wonder why d Bauchi state govt & d FRSC in d state turn a blind eye while markets are held on federal highways - another disaster waiting to happen.

Jesus Christ

I think it is another form of genocide by the North. He traveled all the way from north without brake failures only to kill dozens of in the South.

Nonsense road everywhere

Please RotimiAkeredolu, The Ibaka Market in Akungba-Akoko should be relocated to the Ultra Modern Market in front of the Palace. And there should be bumps on the road to prevent speed of vehicles. We can't continue to count our loses and live in fear. AkungbaAccident

Jesu! Many lives! 😔 And the govt will not say pim!

This should serve as a caution to those in New Benin Market et al, and a sign for H.E GovernorObaseki and the EdoStateGovt to sanitise the congested, road side markets in Edo State.

Same thing will happen tomorrow, day after tomorrow and more incidents but we will just move on like nothing happened. So sad. This week alone : Enugu, Lagos and Ondo state.

The issue of recurrent road accidents in the student Community of Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State is so serious and painful. The Federal Govt needs to step in and intervene as the affected road is a federal road linking Lagos & Abuja.
