Democrat Carolyn Bourdeaux is projected to defeat GOP candidate Rich McCormick and win Georgia's competitive 7th Congressional District, thisisinsider reports via DecisionDeskHQ.

Georgia's 7th Congressional District comprises the Northeastern region of Atlanta and the cities of Buford, Norcross, Cumming, Peachtree Corners, Duluth, Lawrenceville, Snellville, and Suwanee.

It also includes parts of the rapidly growing and Democratic-trending Gwinnett County along with a portion of Forsyth County, which has traditionally been reliably Republican. The district was a conservative mainstay for 25 years, but the district's politics are rapidly shifting. In 2018, Republican Rep. Woodall narrowly retained his seat against Bourdeaux

Georgia's 7th District, which is very similar to many of the diverse, suburban districts Democrats won back in the 2018 midterms, was a top target for Democrats to flip this year.
