Compare the Market fined £17.9million by watchdog for 'pushing up' home insurance prices

COMPARISON site Compare the Market has been fined £17.9million for stopping insurers advertising cheaper deals elsewhere.

The watchdog argued that these restrictions meant competition and deals on other websites were more limited for customers. The restrictions also made it harder for competitors to challenge it as one of the biggest comparison sites. Compare the Market was founded in 2006 and is famous for its meerkat characters and its "simples" catchphrase.in seven years thanks to coronavirus.when customers renew polices, under new proposals by the Financial Conduct Authority .For home insurance customers who've renewed five times or more, the proposals could see premiums drop by £55 for buildings and contents insurance.
