The third episode of HBO’s “Industry” is titled, “Notting Hill,” conjuring Richard Curtis’ hugely popular 1999 romantic comedy where a famous American actress falls in love with a scruffy but well-to-do British divorcé from west London.
At first glance, it’s a perplexing comparison. While the film is big-hearted and warm and paints a romanticized picture of the capital, everything about “Industry”—from the bluish, gray tones that many of the scenes are shot in, to the dance music soundtrack—feels chilly and slightly on edge....
The only thing realistic about this show is the large amount of diet Red Bull the South Asian guy consumes in ep 1.
