French producers of foie gras have called for a mass preventive cull of ducks to try to halt the spread of a severe strain of bird flu that is ripping through poultry farms in the south-west of the country.
Well then maybe they shouldn't have a foie gras industry.

How many animals have to be destroyed en masse this year? Millions; like last year? Zoonotic transmission isn’t a certainty so why such extreme ‘calls’?
At least the only ones affected by this cull is those that profiteer off the torture of these birds. They were destined to die in an aweful way, this just brings their death forward a bit, possibly with a quicker murder.
