The Mardi Gras is going overboard with new features to lure back passengers including a micro-brewery.

The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention banned cruises between March and the end of October last year, with the industry voluntarily suspending operations shortly before the ban came into effect. Elsewhere, cruising activity has also been very limited.

Between mid-March and September of last year, it is estimated that the suspension of cruise operations resulted in a loss of more than 518,000 jobs and $23bn in wages globally, according to the Cruise Lines International Association . “We have to remember that even one year ago, in January 2020, cruises had a great, bright future. The Mardi Gras foundation and the design would have been done maybe five years ago, when cruises couldn’t get enough cabins,” said Peter Lynch, an industry analyst and the editor-in-chief of Cruise Passenger magazine.

Florida-based Ken Caine, who runs an online marketplace for used cruise ships, says business is brisk. He thinks it's a sign that the industry is adapting, and positioning itself for a stronger future.

You having a giggle? You's not seen poseidon Whizzing about on steel rails not too far off the sea Tis a no from me ;)

What bollocks they report to soften us up

No.

Think of all that screaming all day ... can’t think of anything worse!

No

Peter Lynch, industry analyst, editor-in-chief Cruise Passenger magazine: 55% of his readers have a future cruise credit. Money already spent! Doesn't bode well if that's the case across the industry🤦‍♂️

Short answer: no

They’ll have their own zoos next

Have the carts been tested for dust particles from the oil droplets from those chimneys or what ever you call the things on boats where all the crap comes out and pollutes all around.

Not at all. I’ve been on one like that and it wasn’t great!

Erm, No. But widespread vaccinations can👍

When I go on holiday I want space to relax, be away from other people, see interesting things in my own time and at my own speed and not feel like I am living off the backs of slaves.

Until cruise ships stop using the worst type of cheap polluting diesel nobody should be cruising if they care about the state of the planet, let alone during a pandemic. They pollute marine life, passengers, crew and people living in ports and harbours.

I hope not. These things are massive dinosaurs that should be allowed to die.

Only time will tell to date,I've so far ignored any & all such being a T1 diabetic but I didn't have any trouble negotiating French border checks carrying syringes & Insulin for an excursion there in the 1980's.

Let it go under

Nope.

No.

It would narrow down my choices, definitely cross off list any lines with such noisy activities.

No.

Is this satire? Go from being a petrie dish to a petrie dish with a rollercoaster?

Does anyone remember when the news was a series of reports on significant events that have happened.

Why save the cruise industry? They are disease spreaders and ocean polluters.

Roller coaster is scary. But what can compare to immanent death?

🤔

Bonkers bbc

Why would you put screaming, spitting people on a roller coaster to spread COVID-19 all over the whole area and the rest of the waiting, watching passengers!!

Having worked in the Cruise industry, no! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Rollercoasters and a force 7 gale 🙈

Rollercoasters at sea? I am both intrigued and terrified at the idea.

Who cares?

Definitely. And free jelly and ice cream.

thank you for asking the important questions

I don't think I would get on board because of the roller coaster, not related to the pandemic, tho.

Who do you employee these days? The beeb is getting things very wrong. Luckily you lost Matt Frei from BBCAmerica to BBC to C4 lmao

no and why is this important? From a licence fee payer. Hash tag very lame

What next Ronan Keating singing his rollercoaster song on a loop ffs folk will be jumping overboard to get hame This idea is absolutely nuts . Who is sitting in an office on 220k a year coming up with this crazy stuff . I would like to find out & meet this psychologists wet dream

Maybe if you enjoy being sick. A rollercoaster, on a boat, where norovirus and now coronavirus are known to spread easily? No thanks.🤮

No, it would great if non cruisers could just not comment on stuff they know fuck all about.

Jazz fest in my sisters handbag

Strip bars, brothels, and a dispensary could sure save the cruise industry.

Anyone that wants to cruise again needs their heads testing.

You can’t overcome Covid with a fairground ride. Who are we kidding? A cruise ship is a floating coffin.

Cruise ships were disgusting floating petri dishes prior to Covid. Rollercoasters won't save them. It's a dying industry that needs to be allowed to die.

No!

Lol

😬

That's the sort of idea that comes to you only during a lockdown! No, I don't think roller coasters are the answer to saving the entire cruise industry... 🤦‍♂️

Naw cos the Tories will fuck that up as well

Are you high on Goves supply?

Yes. 100%. Can't contract covid through 2 ft hallways and community dining when there is a roller coaster!

Has the person who came up with that idea sobered up yet?

Eh?

No

Not after the Ruby Princess Fiasco, and god there's another disaster waiting to happen. What complete moron thought up that idea?

I concur with those responding in the negative, thank you for asking.

I’d focus on not being floating Petri dishes during the best of times first but what the heck.

OMG, how about a full on circus too!

No

Is it April 1st?

What?

I'm not reading this because, it's literally mental. 'Can in-house laser quest save pubs?'

No.

Those cruising octogenarians will love puking on their friends below in the buffet line.

The idea of a cruise is to get away from it all. Keep this for the 18/30 brigade. Who thinks this up then doesnt think it through

That's... that's just something else that can go wrong on a boat.

Ahh that company is known Diarrhea cruise lines

NO but clean and safe AC/DC checking hygiene in food preparation, the number of people on a cruise. Sanitation Sanitation.

No.

What.
