Restaurant and Catering Australia CEO Wes Lambert says the five-day lockdown will be a “triple whammy” against Victoria’s hospitality industry which was gearing up for a busy weekend with Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, and the tennis.

“The lockdowns in Victoria … according to our analysis are going to cost the restaurant industry over $91 million, taking into account the takeaway and delivery,” he told Sky News. “That means they’ll have to rubbish about $27 million in produce". Mr Lambert said restaurants around tourist destinations and CBD’s across the country would suffer as the result of state border closures.

“Ultimately we’re not going to argue the lockdowns, they’ve happened now five times in a row … so we should except they will happen again,” he told Sky News. “The inconsistency really in Victoria is why did the government wait? “They waited so many days to have a lockdown they actually guaranteed this busy weekend, that Chinese New Year, the tennis and Valentine’s Day would be cancelled.

Dan you do Dan you don't. Eventually, Dan has to make a tough decision to protect all Victorians.

It's almost as if we are in the middle of a pandemic or something

Has he heard about the effects on business where the virus is rampant?

As cynical as this may sound. Did Dan lock down the Chinese New Year without offending his Chinese friends. Stopping all the expected backlash.

People, even after 12 months simply don’t get the message - the virus is not listening to emotive pleas, not caring about when/how it strikes, not concerned what lives are upturned or business disrupted. When people learn to respect it, manage it as needed, progress might occur

I get the lockdowns, but you have to feel sorry for small businesses and their staff. The state tax payers are going to be paying for this for years. 👎

It's time to ditch hotel quarantine one way or another.

Some keep calling for fed gov remote sites. They still have to be staffed and that has been the problem staff getting infected and moving around their communities. What remote town wants that shit. 👎 Just tighten up the existing hotel quarantine. 👍

Maybe every time there’s a lockdown in Victoria Dictator Dan and his golden team can donate there wages to small businesses

He wants another outbreak, does he?

DanielAndrewsMP doesn’t care about small business.

ScottMorrisonMP is responsible for quarantine. From day one the Federal government should have setup a secure program away from capital cities.
