The industry that pioneered delivery food is divided on whether to make its pies available through apps like DoorDash and Uber Eats in addition to their own delivery services. As pizza chains look to maintain growth after the pandemic, some are working with the apps to reach new customers or add delivery capacity, while others say the services cut too far into their margins.
Papa John’s International Inc. has struck deals with the major delivery apps to promote its restaurants online and use their drivers at times. I can see why they might consider being on these apps for the advertising, but It’s usually cheaper to order delivery direct from their stores and service is usually better that way.
I work at papa John's and 9 times out of 10 Uber eats don't even show up and we constantly get calls about door dash delivery and we can't do nothing about it because the order is not with us
