ICYMI: A cofounder war led every employee to quit Instagram's trendiest cookware company. How, exactly, did Great Jones’ staff implode so spectacularly? Insider has all of the shocking details here. 👇

) the Great Jones employees were less sold on the illusion that having a woman in a position of power would automatically benefit the women that worked beneath her — or that selling a beautiful vision was more important than developing and supporting the team.

When the ops lead confronted Tishgart, she responded that she had emailed the team about bringing her dog in and the new hire never responded."Employees were afraid of speaking up to Sierra," the ops lead said. One employee particularly intimidated by Tishgart was the creative-team member who worked directly beneath her. She often left one-on-one meetings in tears, with Tishgart telling her how many qualified applicants had applied for her job.

As a stream of new customers seeking a pandemic hobby flooded Great Jones' website last spring, Tishgart was busy planning a future for the company without Moelis. They were clashing over how to procure the financing they badly needed to keep the business running. Numerous people close to the company said Tishgart began to express dissatisfaction with the way Moelis' side of the business was performing, citing that their most popular products were frequently out of stock.

That was also what Moelis told her employees, whom she finally phoned one by one after the disastrous Black Lives Matter meeting in June. She reassured the women that despite Tishgart's attempts, which included sending Moelis a resignation letter to sign, she had no desire to leave the company and was determined to fight.

In the C-suite things were a mess. Money was tight, and they still couldn't agree on how to get it or spend it. Moelis' father Ron was throwing his weight around, three people close to Great Jones said, sending a lengthy email to Boyce about the company running out of money and imploring him to get the two cofounders back on track.

Being caught in the middle of their cofounders' feud was increasingly taking a toll on employees. Late last June, the ops lead quit and the marketing employee followed soon after. "I understand that I am not the most popular person right now to this group," Tishgart said during the meeting. She also added that this brought a level of"emotional pain on top of everything" and asked the group"to put themselves in my shoes."

On September 3 the remaining four employees resigned. Not one of them had a full-time job lined up. They hoped quitting on the same day would send a message.
