Facebook users from Nigeria to Maryland explain how the company's 6-hour outage brought their businesses and lives to a standstill

. Collins Dimiyo, living in Nigeria, said that he had lent a friend money and that he couldn't get in touch with them to ask for it back so he could buy food and pay bills.

A Polish emigrant in Los Angeles, Alex Williams, was left without a way to contact friends and family back in Europe."My parents are not very familiar with the new technology," he said."If WhatsApp doesn't work, they don't have... a way to call me."
