The SA National Taxi Association is mobilising taxi drivers to get jabbed against Covid-19. File photo. The SA National Taxi Association is mobilising taxi drivers to join Covid-19 vaccination queues, a move it hopes will help the industry get back on its feet after enduring income losses over the past year.
The taxi industry has complied with government restrictions, including reducing the number of passengers for long-distance trips to 70% of their capacity. He said taxi drivers are at a higher risk of contracting and spreading Covid-19 because they work with multiple loads of passengers daily and this involves exchanging cash during trips.Molelekwa said driver vaccination is not mandatory.“Vaccination is voluntary. The country has not got to a point where vaccination is mandatory. We are looking at ways in which taxi drivers can be motivated to vaccinate without being forced,” he said.
He said the industry continues to lose income because unvaccinated drivers are not permitted to travel with passengers beyond the border.
Good luck 🤣
How?.... asking for a family member
Motorists are at higher risk due to taxi drivers behaviour on ongoing basis. Could Santaco deal with that first. We have very little sympathy for any of their plights.
Why are they not forced to vaccinate? Scared of them.
Yet most of them haven't contracted it for the past 12 months 😂😂😂😂OK sure 😒
Corona is a Scam
How many taxi drivers died so far of covid? No to mandatory, they have to choose because we don't know the long term effects of the vaccine
Taxi drivers don't comply with any rules most of if not all the time. Santaco never insist on anything, regardless of how much death and danger commuters face daily. This one however, is for some reason worth enforcing. Curious
People just lie unprovoked these days neh.
If it has to do with the contracting and spreading then vaccination has fokol to do with it because it's stops neither.
