Sounds pretty sweet, but as always there's a catch. 9News

The pandemic has opened the world's eyes to a convenience of communication that will never close and is quickly rubbishing the 'fiction' in science fiction.

CEO Zak Brown says: "rather than flying a technician to the racing team or explaining procedures through flat images, with the Hologram technology we can immediately show an engine component from every angle, convey sizing, and instruct on assembly and usage as if they were in person - all while saving countless hours in travel time."We don't have the tech to see these holograms without wearing a pair of glasses.

That means the people involved will presumably be having conversations with others whose faces are covered by large augmented reality headsets.Cisco unveiled hologram video calls this week and according to the tech firm, it's technology that's already being used by businesses. Cisco says its holograms are "platform agnostic", so they'll work with compatible augmented reality headsets like Microsoft's HoloLens of Magic Leap; if you happen to have one lying around.
