Gas prices have surged, stoking the debate about the transition to cleaner energy.

Crises have a way of revealing historical inflection points.

The Democratic committee chair at the hearing countered that this crisis with Russia is a perfect time to be talking about diversifying energy sources, and shift faster to cleaner, renewable fuels. Oil will be with us for a while. The question is how quickly its use will peak, then plateau or drop. Here, the Pembina Institute charts different projections laid out by international analysts.

First decent attempt by cbc to explain a complicated topic. I don’t agree with everything here but I am pleased to see this article.

How about reporting about how Liberals have scuttled oil development in Alberta?

To think the fuel prices won't raise the cost of clean energy exponentially is hilarious. IT MEANS WE WONT BE ABLE TO AFFORD TRANSITION BECAUSEBIT TAKES FOSSIL FUELS TO MINE, MAKE, AND DELIVER IT. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🛡

Only the cbc / state media and the liberals are talking about this. The rest of us know that when Trudeau took power in 2015 he killed all oil expansions in Alberta and killed their economy. Sending 25 year oil workers to other provinces to find work. Like me. cbc is fake news

Don't know where fuel prices are going next - but between yesterday and today our local vendor lowered his prices !!!

Buy a bicycle for all those short trips. A new bicycle will cost less than a full tank of gas for your pick up truck, mini van or SUV. Bicycle = healthy exercise (better than driving to bike at a gym) + saves $ + less stress

No the debate is OPEC and allowing this cartel to price fix oil. Need to stop them .. any other product price fixing is a crime.

Oil company profits also surged and execs for their obscene bonuses. Funny how that works.

What don't ppl get? It's not about wanting to. It's about being able to. It is not practical in the time frame being floated by idiot politicians like Trudeau. We should be listening to engineers not virtue signalling publicity whores

It looks like market based incentives aren’t working fast enough. Maybe it’s time government pockets the carbon tax revenue and reinvests it into green infrastructure so it’s not just people who can afford an EVs and solar panels benefiting

The Liberal government seems to be set on reducing Canadian production without reducing consumption. So consumption is up, supply is down and prices consequently high. And Ontario and Quebec continue to burn more oil that comes non-Canadian sources.

Let’s gooooooooo!!! 💪🇺🇦💙💛😡🩸🌻…. Time to kick it ukraina! Oust w da p1g ruzzians!

What debate……the sooner the better….hopefully the sun will keep shining and the wind blowing

Gas prices

Was iamjohnoliver from LastWeekTonight ever consulted by about gas price?

I fully admit I don't know the calculations or science behind it, but I remember... like 20 years ago there used to be solar car race competitions. The speeds topped out at 40kmph (or maybe it was miles? It was 20 years ago) For inner city driving, wouldn't that be fast enough?

Maybe gov can lower tax on gas to help people a little bit?

Govt needs to make up for covid payouts somehow

There is no viable alternative. Repeat!

Stupid headline!

I'm a bit surprised this didn't end with 'only time will tell'.

Here, you daddy Trudeau, ARE PROUD OF THIS

Is that Jon Oliver?

Now do the carbon tax scam’s impact

Good explanation in this article about why production has not kept up with demand since last year. Still producing less than pre pandemic. Mid and small size operators have not rushed back in as they weigh the financial risks.

Is that John Oliver?

This is terrible framing.

5 reasons why America and G7 shouldn't stop buying Russian oil

To suggest that there are questions about the need to transition to a green economy is to not understand that (desperately urgent) need.

Even if they did over the next few years it would take a concerted and coordinated effort to scale up resource extraction and production- which isn't gonna happen overnight...

What’s the debate?

The price of gas hasn't impacted me for over a year. It costs me $2.12 per 100km to drive my BMW 530e, or about $8.00/week for avg 400km !! (18 kWh/100 km energy to travel 100 km: 18 kWh X $0.1178/kWh = $2.12.)

Vote and comment if you want ... Thanks so much ? 🇷🇺🥷🇺🇦 ?
