More than 400 firms have joined the economic boycott, but about 80 have maintained a reduced presence in the country

Western companies that maintain a presence in Russia to provide essential goods such as food and medicines are trying to strike a balance between President Vladimir Putin’s government and advocates of Ukraine pulling them in opposite directions.

Consumer goods giants such PepsiCo Inc., Procter & Gamble Co. and Nestle SA have said they will retain a presence in Russia to provide basic items for nutrition and hygiene, such as milk and diapers. Pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer Inc., Germany’s Bayer AG and Eli Lilly have said they will halt non-essential operations in Russia but plan to continue supplying medications for diseases such as diabetes and cancer. They have noted that prescription medicines have been excluded from international sanctions because they serve an essential humanitarian need. However, in recent days, even those goods have come under scrutiny.

Maybe they shouldn't be in a country with a murderous dictator.

Who cares? It is like they care about Ukraine people being murder every second?

That's BS.

Too bad. Made their bed, time to lie in it. Complicity has a cost.

That's BS

One can perhaps argue about the pharmaceutical companies but the excuses by the rest are complete bullshit. Pepsi, Nestle and cigarettes are not essential goods. the fact that they continue to do business in Russia is just greed, nothing else.

It's going to happen anyway, it's gone far enough. Unless we have a democratic leaders in Russia lot more people are about to get hurt

Really? And what about the danger and denial of vital medicines being caused to Ukrainians by Russian terror and aggression? Russians should be made to suffer tenfold what Ukrainians have suffered.

The bigotry, the racism, the gloating by the western white elites against Russians is sickening.

At least their houses aren’t being bombed
