The materials used to make vehicles more energy-efficient come from chemical companies, they said. As do materials used in solar panels, wind turbines, home insulation and lower-carbon alternatives to cement. Producing more while reducing emissions will take innovative new strategies such as carbon capture and hydrogen fuel systems, they said. Both McKee and Dow CEO Jim Fitterling said carbon pricing needs to step in and drive incentive for these expensive projects.
