Western Cape Transport Minister Daylin Mitchell has condemned the fatal shooting of two taxi drivers in Bloekombos, Kraaifontein, outside Cape Town. Police say the two men, aged 36 and 50 were shot and killed, while a 35-year-old man was wounded on Wednesday night. No arrests have yet been made. Mitchell says his department will not tolerate any criminality. “The registrar’s office has called the two local associations Belta and Bluata to a meeting to assess the situation and any possible underlying tensions. I must emphasise that the Western Cape government will not compromise on the rule of law and my department is working closely with SAPS as they continue with their investigations into murder and other taxi-related crimes in Cape Town and other parts of the province.
