CPS Energy is warning customers about a rise in scam texts and calls.late Monday night, the electric utility company shared a screenshot of a text message sent to customers from a number claiming to be from CPS Energy, asking for immediate payment or their power would be disconnected.
CPS Energy will never call customers to demand payment and threaten same-day disconnection or ask for banking and credit card information, according to its website. However, the company may call with a reminder if there's a past due balance or if a customer is at risk of service disconnection.The only way a customer can make a payment over the phone is if they initiate the call with verification information, CPS Energy said.
