He said, “Where do we start from? Who do we run to? The goods in my shop are worth over N7m. My means of livelihood is gone. We have lived peacefully over the years and the business has continued to grow. And while I was nearing a point I could say I had a promising business, the incident happened.

“That was the beginning of the crisis. The motorcycle riders who were angry went back and mobilised themselves from every direction they could penetrate and decided to set the timber shades on fire. He stated, “I haven’t really been able to assess the damage done properly because when the boys started to attack our shops, I ran away like my colleagues. No amount of money is worth a person’s life.

He said, “My goods were affected. The attacks were unexpected, as nobody thought that burning a bike after the death of the woman would lead to a crisis. Commercial motorcycle riders are always out of control. The government should do something about them.“Also, a particular plaza close to the timber market was also vandalised. I have yet to quantify what I lost to the incident because most of my goods were affected.

“The moment I saw that the issue had escalated, I ran through a bush path and I sustained minor injuries.” He narrated, “An accident happened in front of the market and people who were angry reacted by wanting to revenge.’’
