“The majority of our employees prefer a hybrid schedule because of the personal flexibility it affords them, and that is not going to change anytime soon. Covid has changed the landscape.”

Hirt-Marchand conducts regular research with Marcus Thomas employees --- surveys or one-on-one interviews – gaging what is most important to their associates. The company listens and makes changes based on their expressed wants and needs – “and sometimes that requires pivoting.”

NRP Group is the second place finisher in the mid-size company category in The Plain Dealer’s 2022 Top Workplaces. David Heller is President and CEO of NRP.His corporate offices in downtown Cleveland were closed for the better part of nine months with the full staff working remotely. Both Marcus Thomas and NRP are offering catered lunches and social activities to allow employees to reconnect in person -- even welcoming canine “co-workers” back as officemates., the option to work from home, hybrid or fully in-person is available to them as well, but CEO Bill Cosgrove believes employees who return to the office – whether full or part-time – will advance faster up the corporate ladder.

Hirt-Marchand agrees with Cosgrove that staying at home can impact an employee’s growth, especially younger employees who are missing out on opportunities to be mentored. In addition to finding ways to encourage in-person collaborations, leaders of hybrid workforces are also tasked with finding ways to help the stay-at-home associates to step away and maintain a work/life balance.

To that end, Heller’s company is hosting out of the office/home activities to allow co-workers to connect in person while having some fun. He also hosts a podcast – a la “Larry King Live!” -- bi-weekly discussing topics employees are interested in exploring or just learning more about.

Top companies respond to ruling overturning Roe v. WadeMajor U.S. companies, including Meta and JPMorgan Chase said they will cover travel costs for employees who seek legal abortions outside their home state after the Supreme Court released a ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade. Accomplices in murder? Will the companies be held to account? Will they also stop donating to GOP candidates who supported this endeavor in the 1st place? The list of companies supporting GOP candidates who help them get away with a lot and the ones supporting travel costs overlap. Like the ones who have rainbows up until Thursday. So they would rather help murder babies instead of helping a woman who struggles to keep hers!
