I paid RM19 million to middleman because I was threatened, says company director

Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng is accused of using his position as the former chief minister of Penang to solicit bribes related to the state's undersea tunnel project. – The Malaysian Insight pic, August 8, 2022.

During cross-examination by Lim’s counsel Gobind Singh Deo, the 23rd prosecution witness said he lodged a complaint to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over the threat when he was detained by the commission for 11 days in January 2018. Zarul also agreed with Gobind’s suggestion that CZCSB would be impacted if the AMLA proceeding against him had continued.

Gobind said further that the prosecution had yet to respond to their request for the copies of Gnanaraja’s WhatsApp messages, which they applied for last week.
