Eight people died after flash floods hit a river in India’s eastern state of West Bengal on Wednesday in the latest incident of heavy seasonal rain causing havoc in South Asia.

Meanwhile one month ago, Millions of people remain trapped after the worst floods in Pakistan’s history. Monsoon rains have submerged a third of the country and 1 160 people have lost their lives since June officials say more than 33 million people have been displaced or affected in some way which is one in every seven Pakistanis. The UN Chief Antonio Guterres has called it a monsoon on steroids and has appealed for 160 million dollars in emergency funds.
