The Witcher 3 director’s new studio has secured investment from Chinese gaming giant NetEase. Konrad Tomaszkiewicz says the “funding was the last missing piece needed to go full throttle” on Rebel Wolves’ dark fantasy RPG

Following its investment, NetEase has become a minority shareholder in Rebel Wolves, which said it remains operationally independent and retains full creative control and ownership of its new IP under development.“Having one of the leading global game companies get behind our vision is a great confidence boost and validation for the entire team at Rebel Wolves,” said Tomaszkiewicz, who is also serving as the studio’s game director.

“Funding provided by NetEase was the last missing piece needed to go full throttle. With resources available to build a world-class AAA game, we can now focus on what matters most: development.”

And here I thought CDPR could sink no lower after releasing Cyberpunk. Apparently they can.

NetEase is buying up stake in a few Western Studios, but they don't have majority stake here. I doubt they will exercise much influence over Rebel Wolves' games.

Cool, but what a cringe studio name. Hopefully they don’t produce Elex-tier junk.

I mean first Jerry Hook's Jar of Sparks, then Jeff Gardiner's Something wicked games, then Yakuza Veteran's new studio in Japan & now Rebel Wolves, I think Netease will be a giant in Western gaming world very soon.
