The US Federal Communications Commission just announced its banning of equipment from HUAWEI, ZTE, and other Chinese companies.

US FCC bans more Chinese communications equipment! The sale or import of communications equipment that is regarded as a threat to US national security is prohibited by Federal Communications Commission regulations. Multiple actions have been taken by the Commission, Congress, and the Executive Branch to create a much more secure and robust supply chain for communications products and services in the US.

The Secure Equipment Act of 2021, which US President Joe Biden signed in November, mandates that the Commission create these regulations. Additionally, the Commission published a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, which calls for additional feedback on the policies and practices prohibiting"covered" equipment. It requests feedback on potential changes to the Commission's program for competitive bidding.
