An officer was seen surveying the scene, with items appearing to be left strewn across the ground at the entrance of the Chinese Noodles stall.A woman who works at one of the stalls next to where the incident took place, and where the cordon is now erected, said the market is operating as normal.
However there is a bit of confusion among shoppers as to why they can’t pass through the affected area. The worker, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “I wasn’t here at the time of the explosion, I was down at George Square but a man turned to me and asked if I knew what was happening. That’s when I started walking up.“I was told that it was two women that were taken to hospital but that they just had scratches and marks on their hands. I don’t think they had any serious injuries. I think they worked at Chinese Noodles bar.
“The atmosphere is fine, people are just disappointed that they can’t go past the cordoned off area. We’ve had no word as to when the area might reopen.”
