TOKYO : Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki said on Friday that the government must stick to its aim of achieving a primary budget surplus in fiscal year 2025 despite a planned increase in defence spending.

Suzuki was asked whether the defence budget may make it difficult to meet the primary budget balancing target, excluding new bond sales and debt servicing costs.
