The University of California and striking instructors and researchers have named Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg to mediate their dispute.
"Darrell Steinberg has developed a reputation as a fair-minded public servant and skilled negotiator who brings people together," UC President Michael Drake said in the news release."I believe Mayor Steinberg is uniquely positioned to help facilitate a fair and reasonable contract that allows us to support our students as they work towards their degrees."
Representatives for the labor groups, UC and Steinberg did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
