Stakeholders in the construction industry have warned that the mass migration of trained artisans and certified professionals from the sector to other countries posed a threat to the country’s future of the nation’s development.

The experts who were drawn from the seven professional bodies affiliated to the construction industry gave the warning during a round table event themed “Enhancing Quality Management in Project Delivery,” organised by Archvision Workgroup Limited in Lagos on Wednesday.

They lamented that the country’s tertiary institutions were not producing graduates to meet the actual needs of society and the few trained by construction firms migrate to use the knowledge in developed countries, warning that the looming crisis should not be ignored. “They are learning not to stay here but to travel out; both skilled and unskilled are leaving the nation, hence, the need to make the industry more attractive for the younger generation.”
