The company is marketing its FibroLux therapy laser to rheumatologists who treat fibromyalgia patients. Multi Radiance Medical works with rehab clinics, sports medicine, chiropractic and veterinary clinics. Its technology is used in more than 30 countries. Multi Radiance Medical global president Tom Kelly, left, and president and CEO Max Kanarsky recently announced that the company’s FibroLux therapy laser received FDA approval as one of the first laser therapy devices designed specifically for fibromyalgia patients. The privately held company has 25 employees locally, as well as remote workers and international distributors, and an annual budget in the eight figures, Kelly said.

The company also heard feedback from clinicians and patients that its laser devices for general pain were helping people with fibromyalgia, Kanarsky said. Those laser devices for general pain included some features of what became the FibroLux device. Nearly 18% of trial participants treated with the device reported side effects — such as slight increases in pain/tension, itching, spasms, redness at the treatment site, drowsiness, headache and blurred vision.
