SpaceX, meanwhile, is developing a reusable heavy rocket, Starship, to fulfill Musk’s vision of colonizing Mars. NASA has given SpaceX a fixed-price contract to build a lunar lander variant for Artemis III that would rendezvous with the Lockheed-built Orion crew vehicle above the moon and take astronauts down to the surface.
