Children's Health and UT Southwestern could be planning to begin construction as soon as 2024, according to a report from D CEO Magazine.

Children's Health System of Texas and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center are in the planning process for a new pediatric medical campus in Dallas,According to the report, the two entities are hoping to begin construction as soon as 2024 with an estimated completion date of 2028.

The hospitals are estimating a $1.6 billion construction budget and a total project cost of $2.5 billion, D CEO stated. The new pediatric hospital is planned to feature 532 beds, an emergency department with 90 bays, 90 newborn intensive care unit beds and new labor and delivery program services, according to solicitation documents obtained by the publication.

The hospital would also include an ambulatory care facility with 250 rooms, unity plant and a parking garage with 6,500 spaces, the report said. D CEO wrote the facility would be set to replace all services offered in the current hospital and bring other facility services to the new campus."Our joint pediatric enterprise is always pursuing opportunities to bolster capacity to provide care in response to record population growth and demand for pediatric specialty services in North Texas," the hospitals wrote in a joint statement."To meet these needs, we are exploring a possible new pediatric campus.
