This year’s theme — “Leading Different: Improving Inclusion Through Leadership” — drew people from many industries to discuss how to achieve diversity in the workplace and better serve employees from different backgrounds.

Speaking on ways to further embrace diversity in the workplace, Blake Rodgers, Deloitte’s head diversity and inclusion leader for the Southwest region, brought up the company’s recentThis event, which invited the entire office, represented an opportunity for people to share some of their traditions, clothing and dance to those who don’t know about the Hindu festival, he said.

“DEI isn’t about knowing everything,” he said. “It’s a mindset of asking more questions and making less assumptions about people.”
