TEL AVIV—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is clashing with the country’s powerful technology industry over a planthat companies fear will lead to a rollback of civil rights and an unchecked rightward political turn that will scare away investment and talent.
Tech executives and employees have joined tens of thousands of other largely secular Israelis protesting legislation Mr. Netanyahu began advancing this week that would allow a simple parliamentary majority to override Israel’s Supreme Court, limit its jurisdiction and give ruling coalitions the power to appoint judges. Some
say they are moving cash out of Israel and incorporating new businesses elsewhere as protective measures in the event that the laws cause an economic downturn.
The left creates their own demons then want to fight them
Somehow I doubt this is the real story. This is a headline right out of nytimes washingtonpost
As far as scaring away investment and talent, our state and local governments did that when they embraced non compete agreements, giving all the tech jobs to California.
Great article since more companies in Israel are finding a home in the US such as New York.
The Ministry of Finance explicitly warned, in the budget documents that were placed on the ministers' table: the legal revolution could harm economic activity, private investments and Israel's credit rating. More clear than that?
Here in israel we have a fascist dictatorial racist government. It will be a bad government for all Jewish Arab Christian citizens. It will be headed by a person accused of bribery, fraud and breach of trust. The only thing that interests him is how not to go to jail.
It's not a judicial overhaul! 'Only in Israel do judges confer the power of abstractreview on themselves, without benefit of a constitutional orlegislative provision.' (Richard Posner - Enlightened Despot).
I think they’re fear is valid. How did he get elected again?
Bibi’s cheating Israel gets worse every day.
They are fine with Apartheid but this is too much lol.
This is a SHANDE!
So Tech wants to challenge the adage, 'Go WOKE Go Broke'?
