Balwin Properties' Munyaka Lifestyle Estate boasts a man-made lagoon the size of seven rugby fields filled with 40 million litres of water. | News24_Business

Balwin Properties opened its second man-made lagoon in Gauteng this week. Flanked by modern apartments, villas and a"hero" six-bedroom penthouse priced at R75 million, Balwin's new addition comes as the developer looks to capitalise on robust demand for housing, including from those frustrated with the state of government's electricity and water services.

The Munyaka lifestyle Estate, where the lagoon filled with 40 million litres of water is located, also adds to a growing number of developments in Waterfall City that seek to appeal to buyers looking a long-term solution to SA's seemingly permanent load shedding problems. The developer has established an energy subsidiary, Balwin Energy, that specialises in solar power to reduce the reliance of Munyaka and other Balwin estates on Eskom. The energy business also supplies water treatment plants for the estates.Get 14 days free to read all our investigative and in-depth journalism. Thereafter you will be billed R75 per month.
