The Bargain Hunters Flea Market will return to the Coxheath Arena in April after vendor Chris Lee purchased the venture from George Peters who began the flea market more than 40 years ago. Peters announced in November that he would be moving on and was pleased to see a local vendor take it over. - Greg McNeil/Cape Breton PostCOXHEATH — It’s not good-bye after all for the Bargain Hunters Flea Market after a longtime vendor purchased the endeavour in time for a springtime opening.
“We are still going to have the same sellers and the same spots,” said the Whitney Pier-born entrepreneur who now lives in Membertou. “We are creatures of habit. If you are comfy there, I’m not going to rock the boat.” We are still going to have the same sellers and the same spots, said Chris Lee, left, the new owner of the Bargain Hunters Flea Market. He recently purchased the business from George Peters, right, its founder. - Greg McNeil/Cape Breton Post“It’s a big tedious job,” Lee said. “You don’t do a flea market because you are going to be a million dollar winner. It is 10 per cent business, 90 per cent passion.
As for the former owner, Peters was quite pleased to see that Lee put his name forward for ownership. Peters agreed with Lee’s assessment that the market is like one big family and added that all vendors not only know each other but help teacher other.
