Remote work options are reportedly diminishing as companies shift power back to managers who are demanding employees work in-person.

that major businesses are going back on their earlier promises to permit employees to work from home either full- or part-time, including Disney, Twitter, and Starbucks. Employees who are unhappy with their company’s remote working policies are more likely to look for a new job, potentiallyof the “great resignation,” as power shifts back to managers amid recession fears and increasing layoffs.

According to a Monster report from January 2023, 33 percent of businesses that had intended to adopt a permanent virtual or hybrid model have since changed their minds. According to Kathy Kacher, president of Career/Life Alliance Services, who has been advising businesses on their return-to-work strategies, managers now perceive themselves to have greater negotiating leverage with workers, particularly when it comes to office attendance.

Kacher also points out that some executives are using stricter office requirements as a covert means of reducing headcount without having to conduct mass layoffs and provide severance to workers. “It’s a good deal for companies who don’t want to deal with the backlash and consequences that come with layoffs but need to cut costs somewhere,” she explains.

Their commercial property leases are vacant and can't sell them. That's why 🤣

Those managers just can't stand that productivity went up once their daily creeping and meddling was rendered inert.

Back to work, hippies

Lol

Being in an office or workplace is actually more engaging, like it or not. Sitting home in your pajamas doing laundry while monitoring your 'puter is just lazy.

Companies save a ton of money in office buildings/parking/utilities/maintenance/security/equipment/taxes. This is bs

I know many who work from home and hardly work. Unfortunately everyone has to pay for a few. Dam adults who can’t behave like such.

I work making office furniture, get to work lazies.

Because they actually have to freakin work. Get off your asses and go to work or don't get a damn paycheck.

I think they firmly should.

Good- get off your asses!

I just quit a job where they tried this. Got a 100% remote job with a 30% increase in pay.

We knew this was going to happen

Remote work is generally on a contract basis rather than as an hourly employee without supervision.

It's time that everyone returns to work in person.

Good!

That's not fair.. No more going to work in your pajamas at 11 AM, going to lunch from noon until 3 pm, and quitin' time when you want to hurry so as not to miss Happy Hour.

I’d rather remove broken glass from my sphincter

Cruel and unusual punishment to expect workers to show up at their place of employment. How dare they.

Nope. Not going back. And I don't understand why amy company would want to. Why, so they can operate an entire building and pay for all that overhead when instead the employee does via their mortgage or rent and utilities. A company would have to be retarded

The HotPocket generation doesn't wanna come back.

BULLSH*T! Tick tock Bannon gutter propagandists.

Have you heard about the $MMTLP scandal taking place? Over 65,000 investors sold hundreds of millions of counterfeits. FINRA halted trading Dec 9, 2022 to protect predatory financial institutions. SEC is involved. Valued at hundreds of billions of dollars.

🚨🚨🚨

I'd quit my job if they ever ask me to come back in the office. Or... they would have to double the pay due to inflation and gas $

LOL - all the shut-ins will be looking for new jobs

It’s not going well either.

Fake. Companies are looking to balance federal requirements that define remote and hybrid work in tax shelters for office space. Managers don't want employees back in person because the drama.

You mean employees have to actually show up for work to get paid? Oh no! How absolutely terrible.

Without employees present, managers have no one to micromanage.

Ha ha

For no reason

Actually, what's happening is that metropolitan cities are realizing that their city centers will die without people going into the office at least a few times a week. Small businesses will fail, restaurants and bars will fail, commerce in the central city will fail.

Are these the same companies that are proud to be green? I mean how green is it to put all these people back on the road two times a day?

Traffic is miserable

how you know the fake work is getting progressively more boring

I have never stopped going to work!!

As Elon said if they won’t work in the office they can pretend to work somewhere else.

About god damn time brothers! Lil' Nephew works in tech and after hearin' stories of him gettin' tapped on the shoulder every 15 minutes and havin' to hide out in the far corner of finance so no one can find him I can't help but agree, it's called productivity libs!

People have seen how little managers matter in the WFH movement and managers hate that. And since execs only listen to managers they are regressing...

Managers have to show they are valued (or there would be none). Now you know… 🤨

You can see all the white baby boomers agreeing 🤣🤣

If you can work anywhere anywhere can take your job.

As it should be

As well they should

I know some peeps who are walking on eggshells, worried about all the layoffs. GO 2 WORK. You know how you avoid being on the layoff list? Make sure your boss sees your face in the office. And frequently! If you need your job, then fucking act like it. And that is my Ted talk 🤣

Good.. get ‘em outa here and back in the cities where they belong..

I have been working remotely for years, and I work at times 70 to 80 hours a week for weeks or months at a time. I could not do this if I had to commute. Not everyone needs to come back to the office.

The socialist democrats are mad they have to go back to work. They like staying at home so the boss can't see how productive they are. As always, never buy anything made in china. Don't ever trust a democrat and NEVER leave your child alone with one.

As it should be. More productive

Hahahaha! Sadly some corporations have sold their buildings and have no where for employees to go!!!!!! Wish they would NOT listen to sorry consulting companies!

These managers just can't stand the fact that productivity went up without them creeping over everyone.

I retired at the right time! 😁

Everyone should remember that if you can prove to your employer that you can do your job just as well from home as the office you’ve proved that job can go to a low-cost overseas location. Be careful what you wish for.

Good.

Glad I got out of the corporate world. Now days there’s absolutely no reason to go into an office just to stare at a computer and talk on the phone when you can do it just as easily from home.

Everyone get off your lazy asses and go to the office. WFO WorkFromTheOffice WFHIsLazy

Nah. There are tons of remote jobs.

I'm not in a field that has ever had that option but it's kind of silly not to let people who can work from home not do it. They pay a lease, electric, water, internet and everything else just so they can lord over employee. It's dumb and wasteful.

It makes sense. But there are some jobs where productivity increases remotely. Especially if the worker would normally have a long commute

Not seeing that. In my area, several Fortune 100 companies are selling off parts of their corporate campuses because people are working from home.

Yep, the free ride is coming to an end folks. Time to grow up.

...are you happy about that? Like, why?
