KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — Opposition chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has called for a block vote after Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong called for a motion to complete the government’s business stated in the Order Paper in Parliament today.

The government’s business stated on the Order Paper today includes the tabling of the second reading for the Sustainable Energy Development Authority Bill 2023 and Renewable Energy Bill 2023. Ugak Kumbong had in his motion proposed that Parliament proceeding today will not be adjourned until both the Bills have been tabled its second and third reading today.

The call for a block vote was done after the Opposition bloc MPs questioned why are the Bills rushed in the first week of the current Parliament sitting. Takiyuddin had earlier cited unfairness that MPs were ‘forced’ to debate and vote for the Insolvency Act Amendment Bill that was passed at its third reading yesterday when its first reading was only done a day before .
