Namibia's energy sector is gaining notoriety for its diversity and growth. In the realm of oil and gas, recent significant exploration activities have led to considerable discoveries of approximately 11 billion barrels of oil equivalent that have the potential to place Namibia among the top oil and gas nations in Sub-Saharan Africa and globally.
We are also pioneering large-scale green hydrogen production, which could significantly enhance our economy and affirm Namibia's place in the global green energy landscape by producing at least 10 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2050. Concurrently, we are developing our emerging carbon markets, a step that signals our commitment to transformative climate action and sustainable development.
These developments will also form part of the discussions at the Invest in Namibia session scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the Business Summit on Thursday, 13 July 2023, at 12h00 - 14h00. Hosted by His Excellency Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, the Vice President of the Republic of Namibia and attended by high level officials from the public and private sector, the session will highlight the latest developments and investment opportunities in Namibia's dynamic energy sector.
The high-level delegation is keen on sharing our recent achievements and advancements in the energy sector and is available for media interviews to discuss our strategies, accomplishments and future plans in greater depth. His Excellency, Dr Nangolo Mbumba - Vice President of the Republic of NamibiaHon.
