Up to fifty jobs will be lost at Bushmaster manufacturing company, but what does it mean for other Defence contracts?

Chief executive, Chris Dixon, said a new contract would run for the next 10 years and provide job security for the 150 families that have workers at the factory.ADA's Chris Dixon says a contract to supply the Australian Defence Force with uniforms would secure jobs for 10 years at its Bendigo factory.Professor Chris Stoltz is the director of Central Victorian Advanced Manufacturing at La Trobe University in Bendigo and works with the Bendigo regional manufacturing group.

He said there is a shortage of manufacturing workers in Central Victorian and suspects Thales Australia is speaking to other employers that are looking for skilled workers. The fabric is supplied from Bruck Textiles in Wangaratta in north-east Victoria.ADA makes around 700,000 uniforms a year and employs up to 264 people during times when defence forces or emergency services are deployed into war zones or natural disasters.
