HOUSTON - The oil industry should engage with proponents of the “Green New Deal,” a Democratic initiative seeking to radically reduce U.S. dependence on fossil fuels, BP Chief Executive Officer Bob Dudley said on Tuesday.

“We need to demonstrate that we share the common goal of a low-carbon future and that we are in action toward it,” Dudley said in the speech at the CERAWeek conference by IHS Markit. But U.S. rivals Exxon Mobil and Chevron have made fewer investments in clean energy in recent years, drawing growing pressure from investors and climate activists.

“It means improving the dialogue we have with policymakers around the world, including those behind the Green New Deal,” Dudley said.

I’m losing my home. I have three children who don’t need anymore trauma, losing their childhood home and having to go to a shelter, then maybe a drug infested motel? Ive failed my kids, and I feel paralyzed

BP CEO wants to talk about green new deal, and you think his motives are purely climate. LOL so naive.

Read: moving some investments into nuclear. Just my take.

I hope he is serious and sincere because this could be hugh for the future of our environment and economy. There is no reason why the biggest contributors to the problem can't be part of the solution...and make money doing it! Not happening overnight...but sooner than later.
