Avalanche Studios will join other developers and universities to share tips and advice

A Liverpool-based company will offer free advice to people aspiring to enter the video games industry.

Hosted by Games Jobs Live, will take place online and is targeted at 16 to 18 year-olds in the north west. Liverpool, and the north west in general, has a long history with video game development. Bug-Byte, the company responsible for classic British Spectrum game Manic Miner, was founded in Liverpool as early as 1980. Meanwhile, Psygnosis developed the very first games for the PlayStation One console. Colin Macdonald, director of Games Jobs Live, said: “The global games market is worth $159 bn, with 2.7 bn people playing video games globally. So, there’s a real opportunity for diverse, young people to enter the thriving UK gaming industry but more needs to be done to communicate the wide-ranging opportunities available to them.
