Deon Raju, who has been with the bank since 1999, starts in the role immediately.

Absa said in a statement on Friday that Deon Raju has been appointed as group financial director and executive director. Raju will take up the position immediately and replace Chris Snyman, who has served as financial director in an interim capacity since November 2023. Snyman, who chairs Absa’s Models Committee, is immediately stepping down. Raju has been with Absa for 20 years and has spent 22 years in the banking industry.

In addition, he serves on the committees for group risk and capital management, group credit risk and information technology.
