Big Tech is investing in carbon removal companies to achieve net-zero climate goals. One surprisingly low-tech solution receiving funding is the startup Lithos Carbon. The company works with farmers across the US to provide leftover rock dust that is spread across crop fields. The dust sucks carbon out of the air—a technology known as enhanced rock weathering. Lithos then measures how much carbon has been captured and sells it in the form of carbon credits.), has committed to buying $57.

The company is operating with $57 million from a consortium known as frontier which includes alphabet and meta. Residents in a flood-plagued north end Toronto neighbourhood say they've been waiting more than a decade for the city to make good on a plan to fix the problem.More than 150 homes in Winston Park, near Dufferin Street and Wilson Avenue, are hit by serious flooding every five years or so, residents told CBC Toronto. And they're worried the severe storms that are to blame will soon become more frequent due to climate change.
