Company Fueling Brains sent out a letter to parents July 3 flagging an increasing number of illnesses around its Walden location, say they hired an outside company to deep clean facility

A Calgary daycare operated by Fueling Brains, the company at the centre of an outbreak of pediatric E. coli last fall that sickened hundreds, has closed again this week after a child tested positive for the bacterial infection.

“However, out of an abundance of caution, we are closing the West 85th campus for the remainder of the week to allow for deep cleaning and to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff,” said the letter, posted in a Facebook group comprised of parents with children attending Fueling Brains locations.

Kerry Williamson, a spokesperson with Alberta Health Services, said in a statement that the health authority is aware of the case and is working with the daycare facility to “gather information on this situation.” The owners of Fueling Minds were charged last September under municipal bylaws for operating without the appropriate business licence.
