The defence accused the state of fraud after some discrepancies in cellphone data evidence.

Yesterday, the defence accused the state of fraud after some discrepancies in cellphone data evidence.

Defence counsel Charles Mnisi says the cellphone evidence that a retired cellphone analyst supplied last year does not correspond with Vythilingam’s data. The information in question pertains to the alleged communication between singer and Meyiwa’s girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo, and one of the accused, Fisokuhle Ntuli, before the murder of the Bafana Bafana captain.

Mnisi has threatened to open a case of fraud against those responsible for compiling the cellphone data evidence. Mnisi said: “On the basis of this information, we need to approach our instructing attorneys with a view to go lay a formal case or formal complaint against the compilers of information on behalf of our accused.”Advocate Mnisi: That complaint will be premised on fraud, altering and defeating the ends of justice. Because this information is misleading the court.
